Nice, so after the FPS lie and more people starting to listen about it… GSP’s now come up with a new “epic performance boost”…
Original post: http://developer.ctrlplusv.com/2010/04/12/drupal-6-base_path-is-not-base_path/
Over the past 2 days i close to finished the theme conversion for CGX24.
I now started to build some block modules and came across that $base_path does NOT (always ?) point to the home URL.
In my themplate i sticked to call the base url via
By a typo i hoverver used
on one of my modules to get the base URL, but i quickly figured that $base_path points out the full URL to current page.
After i had a closer look on the api docs, i defined $base_path as a global first, and this brought the correct result of $base_path being then the base URL.
However, the best solution in my mind is to always use base_path() if you need to get the base URL to your drupal install.
Hackers Wield Newest IE Exploit in Drive-By Attacks
A security researcher said hackers are attacking some PC users by using an Internet Explorer exploit allegedly used last month to break into Google’s network.…
French, German governments urge users to dump IE until Microsoft produces patch
Three things;
1st; Today, i accidently came accross a page labeled “ModernWarfail2″. And i think it is probably the best and latest “proof-of Modern Warfare 2 = FAIL” site available.
2nd; I know and found it back in december (if not sooner) already, but a “hacking” group successfuly reverse ingeneered the “dedicated” server of MW2 wich is going into public state soon, followed by a guy who is currently codeing a fully emulated IWnet for players using “cracked” (or call it “pirated”) MW2 copies.
So much to “My response to “Can IWnet stop piracy”?”.
And to make that clear again: I do not own or play MW2 at all. And it seems i was damn correct by not (pre-)purchasing this game.
3rd; EA finaly announced some details about the Dedicated server stuff arround BC2 last week.
And, oh wonder…, they will also NOT have a PUBLIC dedicated server pack available! The company wich was MOST bitching about MW2 behavior in dedicated server handling now doeas (nearly) exactly the same!
Only difference, you can set a password, set configs. So “matching” is at least better handeled than it is on the (closed) IWnet. But it is still a no-go in PC market. I don´t want to be forced to pick up hosting on a “EA” partner.
Since the first minute i offering gameservers in my or other communities i done it on my OWN webroots! And knowing what´s on there.
In fact this “i can host it everywhere and anywhere” made games like CS, CS:S, TF2, BF1942 and BF2 to the success they are nowdays!
It´s a shame what happens on the gamemarket nowdays, and was introduced by IW and followed by EA.
I´m glad that at least VALVE still sticks to its roots!
